Theatrical Performances & Historical Interpretations

SWORDPLAY is currently providing historical interpretations to the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds. We have performed at schools and tourist attractions for over five years, aiming to combine historical accuracy with an entertaining and moving experience.

Historical Interpretations for Schools:

SWORDPLAY specialist in providing historical interpretations at schools around the country. The Interpretations are excellent at bringing history to life, provoking discussions, and enabling learning through auditory, kinaesthetic and visual mediums.
When booking any historical interpretation, you will receive a learning pack two weeks before the date of the performance. This will include eyewitness accounts, numerous pictures, and exercises and games. An introduction setting the historical character or event in context will precede the performance, and afterwards there is of course a chance for any questions to be asked and for a handling session. If you wish, a sense box can also be left with your school for a maximum of two weeks.

Price: £250 per day. Popular packages include: The Stuarts, The Tudors, The Victorians, The Romans, etc.

Historical Interpretations for Museums, Castles and Heritage Sites:

SWORDPLAYS interpretative performances support education programmes, reach new audiences, and create an exciting and informative day out. Bring your attraction to life with our unique shows that appeal to all audiences, regardless of age, level of interest or historical knowledge. By interpreting the specific history of your site, SWORDPLAY aims to create a greater interest in the value of your attraction, as well as delivering an action packed event. Between performances your visitors will have the opportunity to ask any questions, or handle any of the unique objects that we bring with us. A guaranteed unique day out!

An interpretation on any historical character, event, or period is possible, with performances tailor made to your exact needs. Examples from hundreds of existing interpretations include, 'The Peninsular War', 'The Battle of the Somme', 'The English Civil Wars' etc. If a script does not already exist it will be researched and written by professional historians free of charge.
